AussieMOO's Conditions of Entry

The following are a set of basic rules so that all players of this wonderful MOO may enjoy their time and feel safe.
They also assist us in keeping other parties satisfied of our position on the Internet.

AussieMOO requires personal information for each user of the system by the hosting university. This information is entered by using the do_perdata command.
Once information is entered, it can not be changed, so choose your answers honestly and wisely.
The following is the information that do_perdata will ask for:
Your real name (Last, First)
Are you considered a minor in your state/territory
Your place of residence (Town and Country)
Your contact e-mail address(es)
Your MOOing duration [if at other MOOs]
Programming Experience [if any]
Positions of importance at other MOOs [eg; wizard, admin, helper, etc]
And a personal note, if you wish to say anything more.

*** All personal data is respected by wizards and the sysop
*** and shall not be given out without prior consent.

To make life a little easier on AussieMOO there is a list of rules that AussieMOO residents are asked to abide by. All of these rules are enforced and incur a penalty if breached. Some rules may not make a great deal of sense, as they are more relevant to programmers who may be using their skills to threaten the MOO in some way. But do not worry, if you inadvertently break the rules, the wizards are understanding and will explain the situation to you and will not punish you for ignorance. The rules and their meaning are explained here:

Shouting

This rule deals with the use of self made shout verbs and mostly applies to programmers. AussieMOO has a shout verb system that is easy to turn off if you do not want to listen to it. Programmers who make their own shout verbs cannot be turned off so easily and can bother other people with their noise. This offence will warrant the removal of the offenders programming privileges indeterminately.

Multiple Characters

AussieMOO allows everyone to have one individual character each. If for any reason you feel you require a second character you may ask the ArchWizard for a second character, stating your reasons. Your request may or may not be granted, but all reasonable requests are usually accepted. If you are found to have more than one character illegally then your excess characters will be reaped instantly. Using someone else's character comes under this category and if you are found using someone else's character both your character and the character you used will be subject to penalty.

Fake guesting

This is when you login as a guest when you already have your own character. There is no reason you should be using a guest character unless you have lost your password and are connecting to inform a wizard that you require a new one be sent to your nominated e-mail address. Wizards tend to be lenient on first offenders, merely disconnecting the guest character and informing you of your error.

Outing

AussieMOO characters enjoy their anonymity. Therefore publicising an individual's real life identity without their permission is considered among the worst forms of offence. Their real life identity encompasses their name, location, age, personal attributes (hair/eyes/weight), gender and marital status. There is no excuse for betraying someone's privacy, even if you don't value your own.

Player Classes

This is another rule that applies to programmers only. It forbids players to make their own player classes. Any additions to the current player hierarchy that you wish to be made you must ask the ArchWizard to implement. Any illegal player classes found will be instantly recycled, and the owner will potentially lose their programming privileges.

Abusing other Players

If a complaint is received that someone used the MOO to emote any form of violence or sexual harassment towards them, it will be taken very seriously. It does not matter if the offender considers the offence harmless or humourous. This can result in the offender losing the privilege to contact other characters voluntarily.

Spying

Recording a MOO session can be very useful. You can look at it later and make note of different things you learnt. However it is important to remember that other people may not wish to have their own input recorded. Always ask permission before recording someone else's input.

If pain persists please see a wizard/admin or @send *wiz
